This sort of creativity is just not possible in Europe! Arcane laws and strict conventions mean that you'd be certifiably, genuinely mad to take (originally Spanish) Tempranillo and blend it with (originally Italian) Sangiovese, and a hint of (quintessentially Australian...) Shiraz.
But here in the New World...well, things are different. So if we want to blend the perfume, spice and flesh of Temp, the savoury zip of Sangio, and the gentle power of Shiraz, we can.
So blend we do...and we love doing it!
The result is proudly medium-bodied, lively and lovely. Bright red in colour; bright and perfumed on the nose, and bright yet rewarding on the palate. Terrific drinking all year round, especially with a platter of Barossa ham and mettwurst, good green olives and caper berries, Manchego cheese and crusty bread.
